Only direct loans that are federally guaranteed are eligible for
United Aid Group Forgiveness. Stafford loans were phased out in 2010, although Direct Loans are still acceptable. Federal loans may be consolidated directly into one loan if you qualify. The forgiveness of non-federal loans, such as those managed by private lenders or lending agencies, is not permitted.
Trump vetoed a bipartisan resolution in 2020 that would have made it harder for anyone who took out federal student loans but attended for-profit universities to qualify for loan forgiveness. The new rules make it more challenging for them to qualify for loan forgiveness.
